IDEA 4

Raising Your Comfort Zone
- Like sunlight over water, there is an attractive power in the Qur’an that can seem like an out-of-body experience. For some, it manifests as fear of what lies below, in one’s own being. In others, it comes as an ineffable yearning for what is greater than oneself. Throughout Ideas Inspired by the Qur’an, I strive to convey an awareness of those feelings and the thoughts that could help induce them.
- Faith, for example, is not merely irrational, but can be suprarational, and faith in GOD can be experienced as a reassuring vital force, a rebirth into a higher plane of existence and vision.
- Personal loss and national catastrophe might prove to be the doors of enlightenment that we could never open on our own — gifts from a caring GOD and tickets to Paradise.
- In the Qur’an, strangeness can become a stratagem for spiritual success, and frustration the first fruits of life-enhancing freedom. Ideas Inspired by the Qur’an explores some of these possibilities, enabling the discerning reader to dance past many of the difficulties that he or she thought could only be conquered by years of discipline.
